My husband and I have been living in this house for 8 1/2 years and when we moved in there was carpet in the living room and hallway, but the bedrooms all had hardwood floors. We had hoped there was hardwood floors under the carpeted areas too, and to our luck, there was! So, we pulled up all the carpet, bought some area rugs and called it a day (although, in this case we called it 8 1/2 years!!!)
When the house across the street was being remodeled, we paid close attention to the refinishing of their floors and saw what an amazing job they did, so we hired them to do ours too!
It was quite a process since we had to move our entire house into a portable storage unit which was parked in our driveway and then move it all back in when the floors were done, but as you see below, it was worth it!
You can see in the 'before' picture that our floors were quite orange....yuck!
What a beautiful brown they are now!!!
Also, we had terrible baseboards. We painted the top part white when we moved in because they were all the same color as the wall (no contrast!)
Now we have beautiful new ones! (still need to paint them though)
We are so happy with them and can't believe it took us so long to finally have them refinished!
But, of course, this means it's time to redecorate!!! So, stay with me on this journey as I redecorate my living room and hopefully I can bring you some inspiration!
